Monument & Pylon Signs

Our Monument & Pylon Signs Portfolio

Make a Statement at the Street

Your building deserves a sign that matches. Monument and pylon signs are freestanding structures that identify your business, development, or property right at the street level. Whether it’s a low-profile monument that blends with the landscaping or a tall pylon visible from the highway, these signs are often the first thing visitors see.

We design and build both from the ground up, handling everything from concept and engineering to permitting and installation.

Monument Signs that ground your brand.

Ground-level, low-profile freestanding signs, typically 4 to 8 feet tall.  Materials range from aluminum and sign foam to stone, brick, and stucco. Many are designed to complement the building’s architecture so the sign feels like part of the property, not an afterthought.

Common for standalone businesses, office parks, churches, schools, medical clinics, hotels, and residential developments. Can be single-tenant or multi-tenant with swappable panels, and many incorporate illuminated channel letters or lightbox panels for nighttime visibility.

Pylon Signs built for visibility.

Tall, pole-mounted signs designed to be seen from a distance. When your business is set back from a busy road or you’re competing with other signs nearby, a pylon puts you above the noise.

Common for shopping plazas, gas stations, auto dealerships, and multi-tenant retail centres. Multi-tenant pylons use stacked cabinet sections so individual tenant panels can be swapped as businesses change.

Most pylon signs are internally illuminated for around-the-clock visibility, and some incorporate LED message centres in the base for dynamic content like promotions, event announcements, or fuel prices.

Which One is Right for You?

It comes down to a few things:

Traffic speed and viewing distance — Slow traffic near the entrance suits a monument. Highway visibility calls for a pylon.

Aesthetics and neighbourhood — Many communities and strata councils prefer the lower profile of monument signs. They feel less commercial and blend better with landscaping.

Bylaws — Victoria’s sign bylaw governs maximum heights and setbacks, and some zones restrict freestanding sign types. We know the local rules and can tell you what’s allowed on your property.

Budget — Monuments typically run from about $8,000 to $25,000 installed. Pylons start around $15,000 and go up depending on height and complexity. We can walk you through what works for your situation.
